Anderson
County Library
The
county's library system includes the main library at
301 S. McDuffie St., Anderson, and eight branches in
other communities. The two-story, 96,000-square-foot
main branch was opened in 2000. Four times the size
of the building in replaced, the new library has more
than 200,000 books, a large video and audio book collection
and a new music CD collection that will have 4,000 titles
when it is finished. There are more than 60 public-use
computers, including two reserved for genealogy research.
The library also has a children's department in the
Scripps Howard Children's Library, as well as eight
public meeting rooms. Branches of the library are located
in Belton, Honea Path, Iva, Pendleton, Piedmont and
Powdersville and Williamston, and at the Westside Community

Anderson
County Schools
Anderson County has five separate public school districts.
The largest, Anderson School District 5, encompasses
the schools in and around the city of Anderson. The
others include District 1, centered in Williamston in
the northeast corner of the county, District 2, in Belton
and Honea Path to the east, District 3, covering Starr
and Iva in the south and District 4, centered in Pendleton
to the northwest.

Anderson
College is a private, coeducational, four-year,
Christian liberal arts institution affiliated with the
South Carolina Baptist Convention. Approximately 1,200
students, typically from more than 20 states and 15
or more countries, are enrolled. About half the student
population lives in campus housing. It offers bachelor's
degrees in a number of disciplines.
Tri-County
Technical College
Tri-County Tech is a state-run community/technical college
serving Anderson, Oconee and Pickens Counties with degree
programs and continuing education courses for commuting
students. An extension campus at Anderson Mall in Anderson
offers continuing education classes and some credit
programs.
